The Misfits on tour in August 1978

Amidst a feverish quest to procure the 11x17 poster for the Misfits' August 1978 stop in Detroit, I learned photos of the shows existed — a particularly intriguing development since some Fiends questioned whether the two-night stint even happened. Shortly after publishing 36 Shots From Max's Kansas City in 2019, I received a pair of jaw-dropping frames snapped at The Squeeze Inn by photographer Ruth Kondrat. And she had more. A whole roll.Six years would crawl by before I finally glimpsed the other images. Every few months — and then every year or two — I'd dutifully send off a Detroit-bound message in a bottle despite hope being mostly depleted. In mid-March this year, the patient pursuit paid off at long last.I suspect you, like me, will be scraping yourself off the floor when you flip through these pages. Here, for the first time, is a peek into the final nights of the Static Age. The Squeeze Inn would prove to be the last time Franché Coma set foot on stage with The Misfits.
